Dr. V. Antonio Benavides is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and maintains active membership in the Texas Medical Association, Society of General Surgeons and other medical associations. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985. He attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical school in Dallas, TX, where he graduated with honors in 1989. After graduation he began a general surgery residency at St Paul Medical Center in Dallas, TX . He has 28 years of experience in general surgery, including 22 years in a solo private practice in Harlingen, TX, followed by 6 years in a rural health setting where he provided a broad range of surgical treatments for his patients.
